Migrate from BenchApp
Moving a league off per-team pricing? Here's how to bring rosters, schedules, and lines across — and what changes for your captains.
BenchApp leagues usually migrate for one of two reasons: per-team pricing that grows with the league (~$10/team/month adds up at 20+ teams), or wanting league-grade public pages and live scoring. The good news: your data is accessible while your account is active. Export or copy rosters and schedules first, then let the AI assistant rebuild the league. Captains will notice one difference — team chat and RSVP are lighter here, so some teams keep a group chat on the side.
Step by step
- 1
Export your data while you're subscribed
From your BenchApp league dashboard, export or copy each team's roster and the season schedule. Even pasting into a quick spreadsheet works — the AI assistant isn't picky about format.
- 2
Create your rink or league
Sign up and claim your public URL. A multi-league operation takes League Management; a single league up to 10 teams fits Starter.
- 3
Rebuild with the AI assistant
Paste your rosters and schedule into the setup assistant. It creates the league, divisions, teams, and players, and can regenerate the remaining schedule if you'd rather re-slot games.
- 4
Recreate your lines in the app
Line management lives in the free Hockey Line app, like it did in BenchApp. Coaches set lines, share lineups, and players see them before puck drop.
- 5
Move your teams over
Send each captain the team join code for the free app. Players get schedules, live scores, standings, and stats immediately — no per-team charge.
- 6
Cancel per-team billing
Once your first game night runs on live scoring, cancel the BenchApp league subscription. Your total cost is now flat regardless of how many teams join next season.
Typical time for the full migration: one afternoon.
How concepts map

| Per-team monthly fees | One flat rink rate — teams pay nothing |
Frequently asked questions
Can I import my BenchApp data automatically?
There's no one-click importer, but there's also no retyping: export or copy your rosters and schedule from BenchApp and paste them into the AI setup assistant — it rebuilds the league structure from whatever format you give it.
Will my players lose RSVP and team chat?
Partly. Hockey Line covers attendance basics in the free app, but chat and SMS alerts are lighter than BenchApp's. Teams that love those features often keep a group chat (or even a free BenchApp team account) alongside the league on Hockey Line.
When does the switch save money?
At roughly $10/team/month on BenchApp, a 15-team league is ~$150/month — the break-even with our flat League Management rate. Above that, flat pricing wins immediately; a 24-team league saves about $1,000/year, more on annual billing.
Do lines and lineups exist on Hockey Line too?
Yes — line management is a core feature of the free Hockey Line app, including shareable lineups, and it ties into the same rosters used for live scoring and stats.
